Sunday Recap:

We kicked of a new sermon series on Psalm 119 and challenged everyone to read Psalm 119 once a week for the next three months, as well as memorize one verse a week from it. This week’s memory verse is Psalm 119:11. God moved people to pray at the altar and two families joined FBC in the 10:30 service.

Forty-Eight persons representing 35 homes participated in the “My Hope with Billy Graham” training Sunday evening. A great start! Additional training opportunities will be announced soon. God is going do some amazing things through this outreach effort.

I prayed with two women Sunday and each one’s situation is heart breaking. One had taken her grandparents to another state to bury their five year old grandson, who had been beaten to death by his dad / their son / her uncle. The other was in the process of filing charges against her grandson for stealing from her home items of great personal value and sentiment. He’s allowed drugs and the wrong crowd to make a mess of his life and his family is suffering along with him. Sometimes love has to make tough decisions. All of this was on top of preaching the funeral of a 54 year old man Friday who committed suicide. An emotionally rough week!

There is a lot of pain in our world and people make really bad choices. Yet in the face of it all God is still at work. We saw evidence of that in our worship services and during the evangelism training last night. The darker life gets on earth, the more we need to lift our eyes toward the God of heaven. Doing so enables Him to lift us up and give our lives a higher purpose. It allows us to remember that He is still God and He is still doing amazing things in people’s lives. Praise His Holy Name!
