Read the following Bible verse several times:

James 3:2
“For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.”

Having read this verse several times, what is God saying to you?

Answer these questions:

  • How can a person’s speech cause them to stumble?
  • Does your mouth ever cause you to stumble?
  • Does your mouth ever cause other people to stumble?
  • What does this verse say about the connection between a person’s ability to control their speech and their ability to control their whole body?

After answering these questions, write or verbalize a personal prayer to God.

Praying for our church:
We are seeking God’s wisdom for dealing with five specific challenges our church is facing.
Today please pray for God’s wisdom in dealing with the following challenge.

How do we facilitate the service of our members in a way that is efficient and focused on the priorities that will have the most impact for the cause of Christ?
