“The rain helped, parking lot is clear. We have ice at front drop off but we should have it ready by lunch.” That is the text message I received this morning (Saturday) at 7:20 am from Tony Huffman, our facilities manager.
When I rolled out of bed this morning and looked at my iPhone, that was a great message waiting for me.
Yesterday the guys worked hard on sidewalks and part of the parking lot @ FBC so the Pastors and office staff could work. The sun melted a lot of the snow and ice, but not all of it. Plans were in place to do more work today, with the hope that between our efforts and the sun the parking lot at church would be in good shape for Sunday morning. Then God blessed us with some rain last night.
The parking is ready for Sunday morning. Most roads are now clear or will be. And I’m excited. I hate it when snow messes up going to church. So I’m excited that tomorrow we will have our regular schedule of Sunday School and worship.
I hope you’re also excited and are planning to get up early so you can get to church and Sunday School early. I hope you’re inviting someone to come with you.
We’re starting a new sermon series tomorrow titled “Let’s Talk” and I think God is going to use it to help a lot of us improve our relationships with family, friends, coworkers, etc. Communication is an important part of life and the Bible provides a lot of practical guidance for doing it well. Just like Tony’s text message this morning encouraged me, I want to help you do an even better job than your already do talking to other people so that you are a blessing to them. “Good talking” helps relationships last, while “bad talking” can ruin them.
See you Sunday.
