Read Luke 15:4 several times:

“What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?”

Having read this verse, what is God saying to you?

Answer these questions:

  • When Jesus speaks of the one lost sheep, He is talking about lost people. How much value does this verse indicate He places on lost people?
  • How much value do you place on lost people?
  • What would happen if the shepherd ignored the one lost sheep because he was happy with the 99 and didn’t want to leave them so he could search for the lost one?
  • Is it possible that our church is so happy with the 99 that we are not willing to do what we need to do to find and save the one lost sheep?
  • Is it possible that you are so happy with the 99 that you are not willing to make the necessary changes to go after the lost sheep in Rock Hill and York County?

After answering these questions, write or verbalize a personal prayer to God.

Praying for our church:
We are seeking God’s wisdom for dealing with five specific challenges our church is facing.
Today please pray for God’s wisdom in dealing with the following challenge:

  • How do we direct more of our resources (people, time, money, events, ministries) to evangelistic efforts that target those in our community who are unchurched and could be assimilated into our family of faith?

Pray that teaches you to love to lost people.
