They were excited and it showed. They hurried through the house and ran around in the yard. They giggled and talked quickly. They jumped from the diving board and the side of the pool into the clear water. They ate chicken nuggets, watermelon, corn, chocolate desserts, and other stuff. They smiled big smiles and had fun. Who were they? Preachers’ kids and grandkids.

Several of our staff and their families joined us Friday night at our home for dinner and swimming. Some of the adults got in the water, but the pool was taken over by the kids. They had a blast!

Monieca and I have been blessed to raise our family in a church that loved our kids. Steven and Jacqueline know that and have good memories of FBC. Most ministers’ kids grow up to love Jesus and be leaders. Experience and research support that statement.

Yet some minister’s kids grow up angry at the church because of things they experience and see. They hear the “jokes” about preacher’s kids. Some “jokes” hurt.

Some people forget that minister’s kids are just that – kids. If you could have seen these kids last night, you would have smiled and had a pleasant reminder that they really are just that – kids.

Thank you for loving all our minister’s kids. Thank you for praying for them.
