Today Jacqueline and Liam are flying from Italy to Toronto, where they’ll stay for three weeks before coming to Rock Hill. Evan, who’s in the Air Force, begins a six month tour in Qatar in a few days.
It’s a nine hour direct flight. Yet they’ll only lose three hours on the clock. They’ll leave Italy at 6:00 pm (noon in Rock Hill) and arrive at 9:00 pm in Toronto. That’s the miracle of different time zones as this big ole earth rotates on its axis each 24 hours. Think about it – as they fly west, the earth is rotating east. Thus a nine hour flight results in only a three hour time loss.
In a sense…they’ll get to do something different with those six hours they gained while on the plane. In a sense…they’ll get to live those hours again. I know…that’s strange, but it’s also true…in a sense.
All of us have had experiences we would love to live again, either because they were so great or because we would like to do something differently than we did the first time around. Unfortunately that’s not how life works. We can’t send ourselves in the opposite direction of time. Time and we travel the same direction…always forward. We can’t stop it and we can’t go back.
That’s why getting it right the first time around matters so much.
If there are things in your life you’ve wanted to change…stop waiting. Time isn’t waiting and soon you’ll be out of time – at least on this big ole earth. Then it’s too late.

PS I’m looking forward to worshiping Jesus tomorrow. Hope you are as well. That is something I don’t want to miss – and this particular tomorrow only comes around once.
