Sunday afternoon I played a game of “twister” and it was hilarious. We’d just finished eating lunch with a group of college and high school students when one of them though it would be a great idea to see two preachers, one 60 and the other 58, on the floor in awkward contortions. Eventually I brought the whole group to the floor when I had to stretch my left leg to the opposite corner of the mat.
If you haven’t played the game before, give it a try. Funny things happen.
My favorite part was listening to the young lady from Tupelo, Mississippi laughing so hard she could barely call out the next move as she spun the dial on the game board. It had been a long time since I’d heard someone laugh that hard. When I saw her again at church last night, her face was still red and she was still giggling.
Occasionally in life we need to have fun and laugh. Hanging out with people and getting to know them better is rewarding. Sometimes allowing our schedule and plans to be interrupted so we can do these things is a good thing. Often it’s the spontaneous moments we remember most.
We all have routines and many of us like to plan our lives in great detail. There’s nothing wrong with that…unless we fail to allow room and time for people along the way. Don’t let the people in your life be the last thing on your “to do list.” Have some fun with them on your journey through life. You’ll be glad you did.
