Last night Monieca and I decorated our “snow man tree” we put up each year in our kitchen. One of the ornaments holds a picture of Liam, our grandson (of course there is a picture below). That same tree will hold a second photo @ Christmas 2014 because Jacqueline is pregnant with our second grandchild.
Yesterday morning I read a book to two classes @ Lesslie Elementary School. Students who attend FBC were in each of those fifth and fourth grade classes. One beautiful “young lady” beamed a bright smile and waved @ me when I walked into her classroom.
Children are special. They are a gift from God and all of us are accountable to our Lord for the impact we have on them.
To date 27 babies have been born into the homes of young families @ FBC this year. That is nearly as many people as we’ve baptized. We all know evangelism is important. Seeing people saved, baptized, and grow in Jesus as disciples is at the very core of our purpose as a church.
Loving kids is pretty high on that list as well. God has given them, and their families, to our church and we have the opportunity to influence them for Jesus. We can let them know they matter to Jesus and that living for the Lord is the best life.
We invest a lot of energy, activity, staff, money, time, and love in kids @ FBC. We should! Your faithful giving helps us do that. So accept this simple blog entry as one more “thank you” from your Pastor for helping us love kids. Thank you for serving, for giving, and for supporting all we do.
