My favorite part of New Year’s Day is college football and today as had some exciting games. But this blog entry is not about football. It’s about something more important than that…it’s about life.
I spent some time yesterday and today thinking about the past year and the moments in my personal life that stand out to me. Here is my top six personal moments.
One, Monieca and I celebrated 30 years of marriage. I’m still amazed she said “yes” to spending her life with me.
Two, I had a heart cath. It was a good scare – no blockage and I found the motivation to lose weight…finally. Down 40 and 40 to go.
Three, UK won its eight national championship in basketball. Not life altering, but sooooo exciting.
Four, we spent a fun week in early July at home with Steven, Sara, Jacqueline, Evan and Liam swimming and being a family. Liam, age two, learned to jump off the diving board. Great pictures and video.
Five, the kids moved…away. Steven and Sara to Columbia. Jacqueline, Evan and Liam to Italy. We miss them – a lot – but the empty nest does have its advantages.
Six, Monieca and I celebrated 25 years at FBC. We are thankful for the privilege.
My next entry will focus on some things I’m looking forward to in 2013.
