I was talking with members of the stewardship committee last night at our church before their meeting started when I noticed a car pulling into a parking space near the conference room window. On the front bumper was a special license plate. In big blue letters it read “UK”. Of course I pointed it out to everyone in the room and we were still talking about it when the driver joined us for the meeting. She jokingly said they knew they had found the right church upon moving to Rock Hill because the Pastor (ME) was a big UK fan.
All of us can get passionate about the sports teams we support. It doesn’t matter if it a kids’ league, high school, college or the pros. Many of us take it seriously and show our support in numerous ways. We’re proud and loud.
So this Sunday at Refresh (10:00 am worship service / no Sunday School / followed by a picnic) everyone is encouraged to wear clothing illustrating some team or cause you proudly support. I’ll let you guess what I’ll be wearing. There are two reasons for asking this. One, we’re having a picnic with games and lots of fun, so it makes sense to dress casually. Two, it has something to do with our theme for the next few months at FBC. That’s all I can tell you now. You’ll learn all about it this Sunday.
So bring yourself, your family, some friends, some vegetables and desserts (church providing meat and drinks), lawn chairs, and games this Sunday. Come early and set up your tailgating tent (coffee and doughnuts will be ready at 8:00 am). We’ll have water slides and bouncy things for the kids. Join the fun, worship the Lord Jesus Christ, and wear your proud and loud clothes. See you at Refresh.
