Sunbeams Christmas Program

December 18, 2013 By Steve Hogg Leave a Comment

This morning I watched a few minutes of the kids in our Sunbeams ministry rehearsing for their Christmas program, which they’ll present to family and friends tomorrow morning. There are 165 kids participating. That’s a lot of children representing a lot of homes. Sunbeams is a great ministry that touches a lot of families. Holly… Read More »

Sunday Highlights 12.15.2013

December 16, 2013 By Steve Hogg Leave a Comment

We continued our celebration of the Christmas season Sunday by singing traditional Christmas carols and hearing beautiful music from the handbell choir. There were decorations and lots of red and green. But some things that stood out to me were these: You responded with enthusiasm to our new church APP, with large numbers of you… Read More »

Kids

November 23, 2013 By Steve Hogg Leave a Comment

Last night Monieca and I decorated our “snow man tree” we put up each year in our kitchen. One of the ornaments holds a picture of Liam, our grandson (of course there is a picture below). That same tree will hold a second photo @ Christmas 2014 because Jacqueline is pregnant with our second grandchild.… Read More »

Life Goes On

July 10, 2013 By Steve Hogg Leave a Comment

Seven kids ages 3 to 9 were having fun playing with bicycles, big wheels, toy guns, a sand box, a basketball and goal, and their imaginations in the cul-de-sac and front yard facing Jenetta’s house. They laughed, shouted, argued, fell, got up, ran, sat down, rode, shot, and made any number of happy noises as… Read More »

Truett Cathy’s Autobiography

September 20, 2012 By Steve Hogg Leave a Comment

This week I’m sharing a post each day about five books I read this summer. Today’s book: “Eat Mor Chikin – Inspire More People,” Truett Cathy’s autobiography. Truett Cathy’s father was an unsuccessful insurance salesman, who was often gone and left the family’s financial burdens on Truett’s mother. Even when his father was home, emotionally… Read More »

Busy Families and Busy Churches

May 30, 2012 By Steve Hogg Leave a Comment

A recent survey published in USA Today indicated that 66% of kids in American today are playing on two or more sports teams at the same time. The key to understanding this statistic is the last part of the sentence…“at the same time.” Young families are busier than ever, and not all of it is… Read More »

Those Silly Cats

February 15, 2012 By Steve Hogg Leave a Comment

For Valentine’s Day, Monieca and I ate dinner at Outback…the prime rib was really good. When we got home, our two outdoor cats (we live in the country) reminded me of an important lesson in life. Now I know you might think that’s silly, but let me explain. One of my fondest memories is from… Read More »
