Earlier this week I had brief conversations with two different women and heard God speaking to my heart after each one. So I thought I’d share them with you.
The first happened with an employee at a Best Buy store. She was helping me with various questions about blue tooth and cable connections for my house and car. Her arm was in a sling and I asked her about it. During our conversation, I learned that she was a young mother of a preschooler who had recently ended a relationship with her fiancé. She was also looking for a church. I was able to show her our web site on my iPhone and tell her about our worship services. Since that conversation I’ve been praying for her arm to heal, for her role as a mother, and for her relationship with God. I hope she attends our church. What did God say to me? He reminded me that there are a lot of really nice, helpful people who are seeking God and need an encouraging word. I shouldn’t be afraid to engage them in conversation, including spiritual conversations.
The second happened as I was leaving Wendy’s. I had gone inside to get a to-go order and my timing was perfect because a group to teenagers from a local church came in right after me. They were on a church outing and stopped for lunch. I spoke to some of the kids, then with a middle aged woman at the back of the line. She was one of the youth leaders. What caught my attention was something I learned during our conversation. She had just returned home the previous evening from a mission trip to Kenya. For those of you who did not enjoy geography in school, Kenya is in Africa. What did God say to me? He reminded me that He has some really dedicated servants who are willing to go the extra mile to serve Him and His kingdom. The fact that this woman was on a youth outing with her church the very next day after flying home from Africa was inspiring.
In nutshell, what God said to me was: 1) keep talking to people and initiate spiritual conversations with them; and 2) serve God and be thankful for other believers who serve Him, even when we’re tired.
