With the Republican National Convention last week and the Democratic National Convention this week, the upcoming Presidential election is the lead story in the news. It is also on the hearts and minds of God’s people. Many of us view this election as pivotal, especially with regard the Supreme Court and the future of religious liberty in America.
There are some things I want you to know and keep in mind:
- Prayer matters. Pray every day for our country and this election.
- We will have a “Praying for America” event at FBC on November 2, which is the Wednesday night before the election. Put it on your calendar and plan to join us at 6:30 that evening.
- Remember that God is the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow. He never changes. Whatever happens with this election, remember that our hope and trust is in Him.
- Vote. Be involved in the process. Be informed. Influence others in keeping with God’s word and values.
- Don’t allow yourself to be labeled or pushed into any category. People like to do that when it comes to politics and social issues. Be known as a follower of Jesus Christ above everything else.
- Watch what you say and how you say it. Don’t allow emotions to blind you and corrupt your speech. Represent Jesus by how you talk and deal with people when discussing the election. Bring honor to Him with your choice of words and your temperament.
- Pray again. You can’t pray too much!
