I spoke with two men Thursday, one young and the other old, and their reactions were very different. The first was an older gentlemen, now 80 years old. His language was coarse and the lifestyle reflected by his comments clearly indicated he was not a follower of Jesus Christ. I finally asked him about church… Read More »
Easter Sunday Highlights 4.20.2014
Easter is always a glorious day for followers of Jesus Christ and today at FBC was incredible. The Lord moved among us and we had two young people make public professions of faith. The two services were well attended and the transition between services went smoothly. The music was top notch. Matt Newton, the choir… Read More »
Egg Hunt is Success
Today’s Community Easter Egg Hunt was a great success. Because of the rain, it was moved indoors: games in the gym and egg hunt in the Apex. About 200 families registered and the kids had a blast. The staff and volunteers were flexible and made the event run as smoothly as possible. See the photographs… Read More »
Easter Invitations
I met a young single mom yesterday while running some errands. She was outgoing, with a ton of personality. She was also excited about her boyfriend and the way he treated her young daughter. God blessed FBC beyond what we could imagine. In the early 90s we were growing and running out of space for Sunday School… Read More »

All week I exchanged text messages with family and friends in Ky as our beloved UK Wildcats continued their run through the NCAA tournament to their third Final Four in the past four years. In doing so, the Wildcats have defeated three of the teams from last year’s Final Four. Now it’s on to Dallas… Read More »
Spring Baseball and Life
I spent this past week at the beach on a study retreat, working on several sermon series for the rest of the year. Thursday was beautiful day, so I went for a short bicycle ride. When I rode by a park, young kids were practicing baseball on one of the fields. Dads and moms stood… Read More »
A Big Kid and A Big Lesson
One summer while in high school, I was playing basketball at a camp with a group of guys from my home church against a team from Florida. That team featured a really big kid. He was tall, heavy, and athletic. He also looked older than any of us. It was a hard fought, competitive, close… Read More »
